修禅寺 奥の院 

修禅寺奥の院は、修善寺温泉場から西へ約5キロ、湯舟(ゆぶね)集落の静かな一角に佇む寺院です。弘法大師が18歳の頃に修業をした地として伝えられ、今もなお、凛とした空気が境内を包んでいます。公共交通機関でのアクセスはなく、訪れるには車が必要ですが、その分、喧騒から離れた特別な時間を過ごすことができます。

境内には深い静寂が広がり、苔むした岩や、池を泳ぐ色鮮やかな鯉、木々の間から差し込む柔らかな木漏れ日が、自然と心を落ち着かせてくれます。少し急な石段を登り切ると、「駆篭(かご)の窟」と呼ばれる石の洞があります。かつてこの地に現れ、人々や修業の妨げとなっていた魔物を、弘法大師が大般若経の魔事品を書き、岩に封じ込めたという伝承が残されています。

その岩肌を流れる「阿吽の滝」は、澄んだ水音を響かせ、訪れる人の心を静かに整えてくれます。滝の前に立つと、自然と呼吸が深くなり、内側に意識が向いていくのを感じるでしょう。

境内にある護摩堂では、不定期で行事やイベントが催されるほか、毎朝の座禅の時間には一般にも開放され、地元の人々にも親しまれています。修業の場として受け継がれてきたこの場所では、訪れるだけで心が軽くなり、浄化されたような感覚を味わえるかもしれません。

静かに自分と向き合いたいときにこそ訪れたい、修善寺の奥深い魅力が息づく場所です。
