Shuzenji temple, located in the center of the birthplace of Shuzenji Onsen. It is known for having been founded by Kobo Daishi during the Heian period. Has a strong historical connection, the place where the Hojo clan was converted and where the Genji clan was destroyed.

The grounds are spacious and lush with greenery, allowing you to enjoy a leisurely stroll. Chouzuya (手水), the fountain used to purify your hands before you pray at the temple. It is usually runned by cold water, but at Shuzenji temple, hot spring water is used. The treasure hall has a collection of the temple treasures of Shuzenji (a separate admission fee is required).

As it is the center of Shuzenji Onsen, it is the main stage for various events held throughout the year, so it would be a good idea to time your trip to coincide with an event.
