滑沢渓谷

滑沢渓谷は、天城峠の北側、狩野川の支流にあたる沢沿いに広がる、深い樹林に包まれた渓谷です。長い年月をかけて急流が岩の間を流れ続けたことで、岩肌は滑らかに削られ、その姿が「滑沢」という名の由来となっています。白糸のように細く流れる水、淵へと落ちる小さな滝など、流れは場所ごとに表情を変え、訪れる人の目を楽しませてくれます。初夏の新緑や秋の紅葉の時期には、地元の人々も多く訪れる自然豊かなスポットです。

渓谷沿いにはハイキングコースが整備され、清流の音を聞きながら気持ちよく散策が楽しめます。水は驚くほど冷たく、夏には川遊びを楽しむ家族連れの姿も見られます。滑沢川が狩野川の源流と合流する地点には「竜姿(りゅうし)の滝」があり、小さな滝つぼに広がるコバルトブルーの水面は、思わず足を止めたくなる美しさです。

竜姿の滝からさらに渓流沿いを歩くと、天然記念物に指定されている「太郎杉」が突如として姿を現します。樹齢は450年以上とされ、周囲の杉とは比べものにならないほどの大きさと存在感を放つ巨木です。根元は保護のため柵で囲われていますが、間近まで近づくことができ、その圧倒的なエネルギーを肌で感じることができます。

天城山中で最も大きな樹木ともいわれる太郎杉と、清らかな渓流が織りなす景観。滑沢渓谷は、歩くほどに心が整い、自然の力に導かれるような癒しのハイキングスポットです。
