What is Yukumi Ceremony?
The Yukumi Ceremony is a traditional spring ritual that has been passed down for generations in Shuzenji Onsen. The procession, which walks from the Katsura River area to the main hall of Shuzenji Temple, is an important ceremony expressing gratitude for the blessings of the hot springs and praying for good health and protection from illness.
For local residents, it also marks the arrival of spring each year.
