Bamboo Forest Path

Katsura River flows through the center of Shuzenji Onsen. Along the river is the Bamboo Forest Path, a popular walking trail for tourists. The sound of bamboo leaves swaying in the breeze is pleasant to the ear, and the approximately 300m cobblestone path is full of charm. In spring, you can find bamboo shoots peeking out of the ground, and in autumn, you can enjoy the scent of osmanthus drifting on the breeze, experiencing the four seasons of Japan.

There is a circular bamboo bench in the middle of the path, and it feels great to lie down and look up at the sky. It's the perfect place to rest your tired feet after a long walk. The refreshing atmosphere of the morning and the bamboo forest wet with rain are beautiful, but at night it looks completely different.

At night, the bamboo path lights up, transforming into a fantastical scene. On the central bench, paper cutting art by Shuzenji-born paper cutting artist Chiharu Mizuguchi is projected. The motif is a bridge tour of love, depicting a man and woman gazing at each other on the bridge.

The bamboo forest path is an essential part when you stroll around Shuzenji Onsen, so we recommend you visit this place both during the day and at night.
