A tunnel on the old Route 414 connecting Izu City and Kawazu Town. Its walls and entrance arch are entirely made of cut stone, making it the longest existing stone tunnel in Japan (445.5 meters). It has also been designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan.

Inside the tunnel, it remains cool even in summer. Standing in the center, you may feel as if you've stepped into another world. Take your time to walk through and enjoy the atmosphere. This tunnel is also associated with Nobel Prize-winning author Yasunari Kawabata's novel The Izu Dancer and has appeared in several film adaptations.

The tunnel is surrounded by the primeval forests of Amagi, with numerous hiking trails in the area. You may even encounter wild Izu deer (Izushika). Near the entrance of the old Amagi Tunnel on the Izu City side, there are facilities such as flush toilets and benches for visitors' convenience.
