The 35th Goze Performing Arts Festival will be held in Heda, Numazu City, on Saturday, September 13, 2025. This unique festival combines traditional performing arts with a spectacular fireworks display over the sea.

What is "Goze"?

“Goze” were blind female entertainers who once traveled across Japan, performing shamisen music and storytelling to make their living.
Heda has a deep historical connection to them: local people once cared for and buried a wandering Goze who passed away here. This festival continues as both a memorial and a celebration of their art and spirit.

Highlights of the Festival

The day begins with a memorial service at the Goze monument, followed by a variety of performances in the evening. You can enjoy traditional taiko drumming, a live stage show, and the shamisen performance “Moonlit Tale of Goze”.
