Located to the east of Inatori in Izu, Hosono Highland is a vast highland area situated at an elevation of 400 to 700 meters. Spanning approximately 125 hectares—about the size of 26 Tokyo Domes—it offers breathtaking panoramic views. Every autumn, the entire landscape transforms into a golden sea of pampas grass, creating a dreamlike and enchanting scene.

The “Autumn Pampas Grass Festival,” a seasonal tradition of Hosono Highland, is held annually from early to late October. During the event, walking trails and observation decks are open to visitors. Local specialty goods and snacks are sold at pop-up stalls and food trucks, and various hiking events are also offered.

Strolling through the vast grasslands while watching the pampas sway in the crisp autumn breeze offers a refreshing escape from everyday life. On clear days, visitors can even enjoy views of Sagami Bay and Izu Oshima, making it a favorite destination for photographers as well.

Why not take a peaceful autumn getaway to Inatori Hosono Highland this autumn and immerse yourself in the beauty and serenity of nature?
